Welcome to my website! If you’re looking for fun, mystery, and a whole new take on history, you’ve come to the right place.
Having been a journalist for many years, I’m a total news junkie and, frankly, I find the real world quite depressing. I began the “Miss Blaine’s Prefect” series as sheer escapism – crime fiction without jeopardy where you can be sure everything will work out in the end.
But everything working out usually has little to do with my heroine, Shona McMonagle, a 50-something librarian in Edinburgh’s Morningside Library. She has had the finest education in the world in the Marcia Blaine School for Girls and is sent on time-travelling missions by Miss Blaine herself. But she tends not to pick up on the most obvious clues and I am sure that you, dear reader, will always be several steps ahead of her.
I also write the Bunburry cosy crime e-novellas under the name Helena Marchmont. This series of mysteries is set in the picturesque Cotswolds village of Bunburry. The landscape may be gorgeous but there are dark deeds ripe for investigation by a trio of amateur sleuths: incomer Alfie McAlister and the village’s favourite senior citizens, Liz Hopkins and Marge Redwood.
